ICON (Icosahedral Nonhydrostatic) is the German weather service's flagship model. Its regional nests over Europe reach very high resolution, which makes it excellent for local detail.
ICON tends to shine for short-range forecasts and complex terrain. The "seamless" product stitches its global and regional grids together so the resolution improves the closer you look at Europe.
